I can not log out of iCloud on iPad

The iCloud ID on the iPad is an old email that is not active anymore. I do not have the password. When trying to change Apple ID back to the old one in order to log out I can not do that since a verification code is supposed to be sent and I do not have access to the old mail address that does not exist anymore. What to do? Can not log out of iCloud - very annoying!

iOS 10 makes it harder to find tips on Net - too new.

There are different passwords to the Apple ID and the iCloud ID

I have one Apple ID for the iPad but there is another ID for iCloud, an old email address. I do not have access to that email and I do not have the password, so I can not log out. iCloud wants the password to inactivate Find My iPhone.

One solution suggested was to change Apple ID to the old email address, use that to log out and then change Apple ID back. That does not work in iOS 10 since I am supposed to get a verification code to the mail address I do not have!

It is a bit Catch 22.

Whatever you call it. There is one ID under iCloud on the iPad (xxxx@comhem.se) and another (xxxx@telia.com) ussed for App Store, iTunes and for logging in to manage the Apple ID. I can not log out of iCloud for xxxx@comhem.se since I lack the password and I can not get a new password since I can not access that mail account. Any bright idea aprt from spending time on the phone with Apple?
